NEW YORK — The Soho Loft Media Group attended an agricultural #investing seminar organized by Campden/Institute for Private Investors (IPI) Private Investor Roundtable held on October 6, 2014 in New York City.

“Investing in Latin American Agriculture Private Family Roundtable” was held from 130 pm to 6 pm on Monday at the Library Room of the Metropolitan Club in One East 60th Street in New York City. Individuals and groups interested in agricultural investing in Latin America attended this short conference.

David Drake, Founder and Chairman of LDJ Capital and The Soho Loft Media Group, highlighted the benefit of attending this event and says, “People searching for businesses to invest their money can look into the agriculture sector of Latin America.”

Hosted by Milltrust International Group, the program started at 2 pm. It closed with cocktails and canapés served at 5pm. Pyers Griffith and Griff Williams of Milltrust International Group served as facilitators for the event.

Three family investors presented their investments in Latin America, highlighting their family business background, rationale for their heavy investments in agriculture, their investment thesis as well as projections. They shared their experiences in investing into world-class agricultural opportunities in Brazil (grains), Peru (sugar cane and horticultural crops), and Uruguay (Livestock and pastures). These panel speakers were:

Juan Francisco Ramos Mejia, Jr., Co-Head, Grupo Monte Claro, Uruguay

Ronaldo Tristão, Founding Partner, Principal and Head of Executive Committee, Triscorp Investimentos Ltda, Brazil

Bruce Lipnick, Founder, CEO and Chairman of the board of directors of Asset Alliance, as well as CEO of Crowd Alliance, is also looking to make a play in Latin America. He says, “Latin America has a strong and growing middle class that will fuel the crowdfunding space. We will be combining the traditional ways of funding nascent companies with the new crowdfunding approach as well as nurture these starting companies by our team of experienced industry expert advisers.”

A question and answer round ended the panel presentations, then refreshment break followed. A roundtable discussion on what it means to invest today in Latin American agriculture commenced after the break. The conference closed by 5pm. Attendees were invited to a cocktail hour by 5pm.
