COSIA/ARCTIC Waste Heat Challenge – Request For Response From Innovators

arctic

Please join the Canadian Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre, the Advanced Resource Clean Technology Innovation Centre (ARCTIC), and Western Economic Diversification in helping enable a stronger connection between innovation and the resource sector in Western Canada.

Together, we have recently embarked on an exciting journey to foster innovation in select Canadian industries through a structured Challenge Dialogue process. We are inviting your support to help identify innovative companies who have the capability to address our first challenge – waste heat recovery in Canada’s oil sands.

The inaugural Challenge will identify viable technologies to improve the environmental performance of Canada’s oil sands reservoirs through the capture and transformation of high or low-grade waste heat associated with in situ production of bitumen. In Alberta, approximately 80% of the oil sands reserves can be recovered with either steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) or cyclic steam stimulation (CSS).

Select innovators will receive significant financial support and guidance to advance their technology/product. The result will be at least one company who will advance to a field trial stage that is destined to attract strategic partnership and investment opportunities.

Innovators are invited to check out the website for submission guidelines.  Final proposals must be submitted prior to November 28, 2015. A panel of experts will then identify two to five solutions for funding and development which may include a feasibility study, lab testing, prototype development, and an event to showcase solutions to industry executives, venture capitalists and potential marketing partners. Finalists will be selected in early 2016.

If you know of any innovators that should be responding to this challenge, please either contact us at the email address above or have the innovator respond directly.

Thanks for your help in fostering innovation in Canada’s resource sector.

ARCTIC is a cleantech development centre operated by the Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre to bring sustainable technologies for the resource sector to market.

COSIA is an alliance of oil sands producers focused on improving the environmental performance of the nation’s oil sands.

The Challenge process used by Foresight’s ARCTIC Program is based on the Challenge Dialogue System(TM) delivered by Tessellate Inc. And supported in COSIA by Delphi.
