Hen is an ethical chicken restaurant with plans to become a much-loved national chain. Currently our high streets are littered with the ubiquitous fried chicken shops which we feel offer sub standard quality and flavor and the larger chicken brands (such as KFC and Nandos) which have questionable morals and ethical standards.^[3] Were here to offer a guilt free alternative.

With big names such as Nick Jones (Soho House), Jackson Boxer (Brunswick House), Mark Hix (Tramshed) and William Leigh (Meat Liquor) all jumping into the chicken market and with the trend to posh up old favourites (Sushi, Burrito’s, Burgers), it seems likely that premium chicken focused food establishments will become common place on high streets throughout the nation. 

Further to this the concept ‘honest’ chicken featured in the huffington post top 10 trend lists for 2013, and with Technomic, a leading industry research firm, identifying it as a top 5 UK trend for 2014, we believe it is just a matter of time for a good chicken led chain to dominate the high street in the coming 3-5 years and we want to be it. It just so happens that we are exactly in the right place at the right time.

So far we have achieved a lot with our first restaurant in Brighton, we have been called ‘clucking marvelous’ by the Guardian, and have featured on Red Magazine’s top 10 ‘most romantic restaurants’ 2015, alongside the likes of Union Street café, and our most recent review in the November issue of BN1 Magazine, showers praise on both the food and our customer service. Not a bad start, considering this was not accomplished on a large budget, but rather, on the back of a deep well of creativity and hard work by the Hen team. Just imagine what we could achieve next.
