Personal Story

Born and raised in Brazil, Eza was surrounded by creativity from an early age – with uncles who wore musicians, aunts that painted and drew, a father who loved to write poetry, and a mother and grandma that were experts seamstresses. It was the opportunity to study medicine that brought her to this country, but it was her love for all things design that kept her here. An entrepreneur at heart she had in the past a business in the women’s luxury footwear arena, where she designed, had manufactured and sold women’s shoes. After having worked for many renowned fashion companies, Eza decided to spent some time home with her then young son. It was during that time that the idea to create Le Petit Matisse came about. She dreams that someday, her company, will become the “Crayola” of the natural and nontoxic art supplies. With your help that dream gets even closer.

Business Description

Le Petit Matisse got started as a way for Eza to use art as a development tool with her preemie born son. Unable to find art supplies that were not only natural and nontoxic, but also safe to be used with young children, she set out to create her own. After years or research and testing at her children’s art studio, the line was introduced to the market in late 2014. The response was so positive that the products were made available for sale online.
When Le Petit Matisse was first conceptualized the line was made up of only a tempera style paint, a gluten free playdough and a beeswax/soy blend crayon. Since then, the line has grown to include products such as natural dye free food coloring, and even a refillable nontoxic crayon coming out this winter. The company caters to children age 2-12, and its mission is to offer products that are not only natural and nontoxic, but also environmentally friendly and sustainable.

What is the purpose of this loan?

I have had to turn down buyers because I do not have the inventory needed to fulfill their PO. With this loan, I will be able to purchase/ manufacture a one thousand piece inventory of my complete line. By having this inventory on hand, not only will I be able to reach back to these buyers and open their accounts, but I will also be able to ship faster to my own eCommerce customers. The more people are using my products, the more our wonderful brand will get known.
