One of South Africa’s Oldest Craft Breweries

The Shongweni Brewery Presents:
Robson’s Beer
One of SA’s Oldest Craft Breweries, Help us get craft beer
to the masses and the local communities.
#GetInvolved

Established in 2005, by Stuart and Shereen Robson in the picturesque Shongweni Valley, and later in 2011 sold to family friends the Stewart’s and relocated to their estate 2km away from the original location, Robsons has managed to break the mould and challenge this fierce industry.

Since taking over, the brewery has increased capacity and output by over 300%. There are a lot of thirsty craft drinkers out there and Robson’s want to make sure they get product to market consistently.

Our beer is different, it is hand made, hand bottled and labelled and hand packaged, taking almost 100 days to complete a batch. Our beers are also bottle conditioned, what does this mean? Well we complete our secondary fermentation in the bottle, This is where natural carbonation takes place giving the beer life. We do not filter and we do not pasteurize or force carbonate such as the mass producers, but due to our unique brewing techniques, we still achieve a 2 year shelf life.

We are also proudly KZN’ers and proudly South African. Our packaging signifies this, in that our names and imagery of our beers are based around Durban, our province and our country ie: Durban Pale Ale, East Coast Ale etc Recently we launched a beer in the UK called Springbok Gold to support all the Saffas that side!

We have come a long way since we took over, from knowing nothing about beer to racking up quite a few national and international awards, and we want to start empowering people by offering the following:

Not only do we want to grow the brewery by investing in new equipment, but we also want to transfer the knowledge of beer making as well as running businesses to individuals from the local surrounding communities. So that they may take this new found knowledge back to their communities and start their own businesses. This will empower the people of the area and create much needed jobs.

If you are passionate about beer, people and local business. Get Involved and support us by following the Thundafund links.
