Scrubs For Change is a Social Enterprise that opens the doors of opportunity for women and girls to break the cycle of poverty and sexual exploitation in Cambodia.

There are an estimated 155,800 people in modern slavery in Cambodia. This is equivalent to 1.0292% of the entire population!

With a population of 15.14 million people, 45.9% are living in multidimensional poverty and 18.6% are living below the poverty line of $1.25US per day.

With low literacy rates and almost 40% of children working as child labour, Cambodia is the source, transit and destination for modern slavery.

90% of children who have been sold into sex trafficking in Cambodia are girls. 35% are under the age of 16 and the medium age of victims is 12 years old.

Children are sold into sex slavery daily due to poverty, socio-economic imbalance between rural and urban areas, increase tourism, unemployment, illiteracy and unsafe migration. Poverty being the most significant cause of trafficking.

Our Response

To fight this atrocity and break the cycle of poverty and abuse in Cambodia, Hope Ink is seeding a Social Enterprise called Scrubs For Change.

Hope Ink will partner with organisations that provide skills training and employ women and girls to sew our scrubs who have been victims of sexual exploitation and extreme poverty.

Through the manufacturing of our Medical Scrubs, women and girls are able to earn a sustainable income for themselves and their families.

By providing skills training not only are we providing employment but the development of self-worth, self-esteem and the opportunity for women to contribute in their communities.

Hope ink imports its Medical Scrubs, supplying them to large hospitals and medical practitioners throughout Australia. This is changing lives of young women in developing countries and helps Hope Ink fight for justice and hope for a better future. Scrubs For Change will directly help rescue and rehabilitate young girls who have been trapped in the sex industry in Cambodia and will help remove the cycle of poverty.

Our Impact

Scrubs for Change will help fight the cycle of poverty and trafficking and provide opportunity for training and employment overseas. Employment and training are offered to young girls and women who have been either rescued or at risk of sex trafficking and poverty. This will aid in their rehabilitation, economic sustainability and empowerment.
