We’ve been creating music together as the Muteflutes for the past five years in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We play music together, because we love it. We love everything about being the Muteflutes. From the practices, to the shows and every detail in between we make music for the joy it brings us. We love laughing together, singing together and being together. This band is our community, and it’s for our community. As we have felt supported as individuals in this band through our personal trials and triumphs, we’ve also found our voice and place in the West Michigan music scene. With the release of American Dream in 2014 we won a WYCE Jammie for “Best Contemporary Folk Album of the Year.”

We believe that we have an even better album in us, and we are ready to get it out for you to hear.  Since we are collaborating and writing every single line of music together on this new album, the music feels richer and is even more deeply connected to who we are as a band.

From travel to an incredible studio and recording engineer, this album is going to be more expensive than our last two. And we think the final record will be worth every penny. In early January 2016 we are taking off to Minneapolis, renting out a studio and bringing in sound engineer and producer Darren Vermaas for a seven-day recording marathon.

When we were kids, our parents made us save half our allowance for the things that we really wanted, and that’s what we did for this third Muteflutes album. It’s going to cost $10,000 to create from start to finish, and we already saved half the money.
